The ITRSS model was built based on the current model in place at Missouri University of Science and Technology. As the research community's technology needs continue to grow, we recognize the benefits of unifying research IT support across both the MS&T campus in Rolla and the Mizzou campus in Columbia.
The combined team is charged with reducing the hurdles faced by researchers when it comes to underlying technologies necessary for their research productivity. From sensors and instrument-attached desktops to supercomputers and the cloud, this team is designed to provide solutions in partnership with university researchers in all domains of science and discovery.

Research Facilitator
This position serves as a primary technical consultant and liaison between the university's central IT department and the campus research community. The IT Research Facilitator enables and accelerates research by helping faculty, post-doctoral researchers, and students leverage advanced computing, data management, and information technology resources. This role involves performing technical consultations, providing training, and solving complex problems to support the planning, execution, and data lifecycle of diverse research projects. The facilitator will analyze researchers' needs and connect them with appropriate technological solutions, taking a consultative approach to enhance existing research workflows and enable new avenues of inquiry.

Research System Administrator
This is a professional, exempt, Information Technology position responsible for design, implementation, management and support of Linux workstations, and research instrumentation and devices. The successful candidate will analyze, document, install and maintain operating systems and servers, storage systems and other physical and software systems supported by the IT department. Providing excellent face-to-face technical support to both internal and external constituents is required. Due to the rapid change in this field, remaining current with emerging IT trends related to research computing and research support is expected. The successful candidate for this position will work well under pressure and maintain professional composure during high stress events. Outstanding communication skills are required.
